Hello and thank you,
I have recently purchased a 3x58 weapon and will look to turn it into my end game main weapon. I am undecided whether to turn it into a Yumi or to make it a Double Axe.
Currently the weapon has:
Hit Lightning 58
Hit Lower Defence 58
Hi Physical Area 58
I plan to add:
Hit Mana Leech 58
Hit Fireball 58
Strength bonus 8
HP bonus 5
SDI 20
Will leave 2 points left over.
My current weapon is a Breath of the Dead double axe which serves me well. With the Hit Phys area, I'm leaning towards a double axe, but I don't have a Yumi atm. Hence I'm unsure which way to go with this new weapon.
Any thoughts or suggestions will be greatly appreciated, thank you!

with the hit area, you def do not want to make it a yumi. the main point of a yumi is to deal direct damage from a distance, and the hit area would just make mobs overwhelm you. Id go for a double axe or a war hammer for sure...

Thanks Fier, my thoughts too. Does 120 Lumberjacking make a double axe hit harder than the warhammer? I prefer the double axe, but warhammer has higher base damage and I dont have one of those yet.

Its close to the same damage but the WH will still hit harder.
I personally feel you would do more damage if it were 50 fireball/harm and the rest into mana leach. If it were mine I would use a 10 levels deed at 90 to get the 5 bonus points and put mana at 33%.
Alternately you could do fireball/harm and mana leach all at 45% if you are afraid you wont be able to spam with 33% mana leach. That would be your 495 points right there.
It may not look as good in the sense the numbers aren't symmetrical but you would deal more damage with that spell setup.

We kind of went off topic at the end but the earlier part should help you decide what weapons people pick and why.
Oh and if you decide on a yumi with two hits pick Magic Arrow over Harm. The farther a monster is from you the less damage harm will do.

I'd tend to agree with adding more to damage. On a whirlwind weapon you don't need 58 mana leech. I never run out with 45 mana leech on my yumi, on a WW weapon you would need even less. I think I have 38 mana leech on my warhammer and I can't remember ever running out.

Just so you know i only applied 15% mana leech to my Blaze of Death and so far (in the past 150 days or so i have it) i've never run out of mana while using it. I'm using 15% as i calculated that i would mostly use it against a huge amount of monsters instead of a single one. When i get in front of a single monster i do tend to empty my mana at some point unless i dont use the fighting skill much i'd never run out of it because of the mana regen given by relayers and other parts. I wouldn't go under 40% mana leech if i had a single hit weapon even tough you can use bushido skills to multi hit close to WW... if this help anyone.

I think what you have to consider is there is no one end game weapon. I have three (Warhammer, Ornate Axe, Yumi). The Warhammer is my AOE weapon for champs, oint farming, etc. It has a focus on spells, some mana leech, SDI, and 8 Str. The rest are nice to haves (HLD for example). The ideal weapon here would start with a base of 2 spells (a direct dmg and an area), leech(es), HLD, etc. However, unless it had BOTH an area AND a direct dmg spell, I would not consider it to be an end game type AOE weapon. Also, note that I put SDI and 8 Str on all my weps to maximize damage from both spells and my strength. Not everyone does this. Call it a personal preference. Now, the template for an Ornate Axe is maximizing direct damage and damage benefits. In my mind, the ideal start to this weapon would be a direct spell (Harm, Lightning or Fireball), leech(es), HLD/HLA, everything else. You're only going to get 1 hit spell but there are a lot of combos of the rest so I'd look for one with as many of them as I could get. The same is also true of the Yumi, except substitute Harm for Magic Arrow per Tredin's earlier comment. You want to maximize the amount of direct spell damage you can get. People tend to argue about HLD or HLA (one for area, one for direct) but in my opinion, talking specifically end game, neither is necessarily essential. However, end game weps are expensive, so if you can get one, or even both, better. Some have claimed HLA is actually a hindrance end game as your RPD can be so high that lowering the targets attack actually lowers your DPS, whereas HLD doesn't have a drawback.

I have 50 mana leech on my current double axe and occasionally run out of mana when spamming double strike. It's not a big issue though as it replenishes quickly and doesn't affect my ability to use chiv spells.
I generally don't do champs and prefer to spend my time farming Balrons or leveling weapons in Fel. My aim is to have one melee weapon for general use and farm, and to have a Yumi for the big monsters that will wreck my face if I try to melee them.
After reading all your posts, I'm going to make this weapon a double axe (simply because I like axes) and will keep an eye out for a good template for a more direct damage Yumi.
