Fishing from a moving boat?

So, decided to work on fishing, seems I can't fish from a moving boat. Comes up with I need to be closer to the water to fish. What's up with that. Am I doing something wrong?

No, the resource grid (I think that's the term) here is smaller than OSI's, which means that you can't fish from a moving boat. The boat moves too far.

If you are concerned about having to move to gain skill.. that is not an issue here. Also just in case you didn't know, fishing afk is not allowed.
There used to be a UO Steam script on the forums for fishing iirc.

The grid here on uoex is 6x6 but other poster pointed out 8x8 for skill gain is not needed here

i fish from boat. all you have to do is stand at front of the boat. slow forward and cast infront of boat.. by time you pass over it you reel it in before its to far away. so it can work.

I knew about the "no afk fishing", not really a problem there, but thanks for the reminder.

As I'm now at 87.9 fishing, you betcha I can gain without moving....it just seems kinds weird don't cha know, lol.

I guess I'm just used to sailing the seas, and fishing while heading to my favorite area to pull up serps.

Ishamael posted this awesome razor script back in 2010. It moves the boat forward as needed. See below and thanks again Ishamael!

Hello everyone. I am an avid fisher on this shard, but all the pointing and clicking is bad on my old carpal tunnel, so I have investigated macros for Razor. Of course, I am in attendance of my computer while using this, but it really saves on the clicking. I will share this latest script. I used word pad and saved the file .MACRO tag. Hope it works for you all.

Not sure of syntax on razor but its best to use back instead of forward. When using forward your boat will actually move 3 or 4 tiles instead of just one. I use a steam macro that says if @injournal the fish dont for 6 msg back one. Endfor. Moves me back 6 tiles an starts fishin again. I just stand on gangplank if @injournal uhoh that doesnt look like a fish pause 20000 which gives me enough time to kill n loot sea serpents. Just pm me in game if any one wants it n ill post in forums
