Re: Dear Staff
Probably because his old ranting thread was closed he wants to open a new thread and moan some more. Take it easy SON!
Re: Dear Staff
I suppose this is a sort of complaint - which is of course allowed and also welcome, if constructive. I don't see any details in your post that could help us make anything better.
But i think we the staff just didn't want to get involved in that issue, we aren't nannies. Just made sure the language was compatible with the 21st century civil society.

Re: Dear Staff
Oh, coli, i did not mean you, but maybe it was a bit too general. To make it more plain: Closing a thread will not accomplish anything. But perhaps, when making a family friendly shard, one of the important things is to make people shut up ? Funny concept, but i guess it gives the right signals indeed. As for the language ... i censored my own posts, i'm not responsible for anyone else. By the way, if you want an example for communication in the 21st century, check youtube, compared to that this is a very intelectual discussion.
alung: You are too funny, buddy. But if you want to be my father, go ahead, after all he's dead, something that would maybe suit you nicely. Yes, i'd prefer you to be my father right now.

Re: Dear Staff
I only used the word SON again because in the last thread you were acting like you had a chip on your shoulder.
With regards to your problem, what are you looking for? An apology? What is the solution? You want no one to talk about your guild again? If people bad mouth me or the guild im in, I just ignore it. Opening another thread doesn't make you look any better. If people are bad mouthing you or being abusive, report it to the staff.

Re: Dear Staff
No way. I guess that means i only replied in the manner i did, because you had to do it again, in caps this time.
And yes it was a general complaint, although i know for sure that nobody would even think about giving an apology, so why should i leave the matter be ? I've swallowed down alot of insults on this server and chose to ignore them, but there is a point, as you should know, at which one can no longer ignore it. And getting silenced is certainly not a nice thing to happen. I seeked a public discussion cause the staff usally "aren't nannies" as Colibri put it. But how on earth would such a thing be solved, if the staff does not want to deal with it and discussion is not possible, does it have to come down to people leaving the shard ? I wonder.
Is the final solution to shut people up ?

Comparing a rock to youtube shows the rock being more intellectual. Poor example imo. I just started on this server, back to the game after 7-8 years. Where you originally may have had a complaint of some sort, it's all but gone now. From an outsider who knows nothing, it certainly looks like you're flying off the handle for no reason. This post was a very childish attempt at a resurrection of your previous thread. It was locked for a reason; you should have let it stayed there. You already aired your dirty laundry to the public. Once was enough. I likely would have never known about it had I not read the forums, but you put it out there so all could see.
Just my 2copper.

Only too true, i fear, though the sheer amout of posters should tell us something about a trend.Hutson wrote: Comparing a rock to youtube shows the rock being more intellectual. Poor example imo.
Putting it out so everyone could see was the idea, yes. But eh ... how about you inform yourself before trying to join a discussion on something you do not understand ... ?I just started on this server, back to the game after 7-8 years. Re: Dear Staff
Adin, unless i misunderstood some of your posts, I think you are being a bit rude.
The initial post on this subject was not very constructive, was more of a rant and flame. That's fine, everyone has the right to express themselves. We the staff would not like to get involved with such disputes because our judgement would always be unfair to someone, also we'd be getting more and more players wanting to get special attention. But we intervene 100% if there's for example a PK attempt, harrassing, swearing, breaking any other rules, etc.
I agree that locking a hot topic usually doesn't settle anything, but I would also say that the topic could be discussed in a more polite way. I watched the topic and hoped it would resolve well, but i guess it's still an issue. If you request, you can tell me at which times this wen't on and whether it was in public or local chat (can tell me in private if you want), and I can take a look at the logs and determine whether that player or player was/were just expressing opinion or trying to get your guild to a bad voice. I would then issue my opinion to those players (kind of like a notice).

We just like to enjoy the game and have a big guild, so we can't be called elitists. As long as a player is friendly, one is very welcome to join our guild, even to just see the atmosphere.
We try to help as many newbies as possible. I believe that most people on the shard know me as a rather silent, but mostly friendly person, and I really don't like it if people talk badly of me after all the effort i've put in.
If you don't like us please either keep it to yourself or be direct and tell us or me personally about what bothers you. Perhaps it's even something that we can improve to make our guild even better.
I just don't like that we would be seen as an elite guild, after all the (items/tours/help) i've given to young players.

Re: Dear Staff
Ok so basically you want all the nasties to stop calling you bad names?

Re: Dear Staff
That, quite frankly, was my intention. Because i was getting tired of being insulted.+Colibri wrote:Adin, unless i misunderstood some of your posts, I think you are being a bit rude.
First of all, i did not even ask for the staff to intervene in any way. This dispute involves many players and not just one and it could not be settled with merely santioning one or the other. My point is that it is up to each guild what they do, whom they recruit and how they help. People repeating over and over how crappy the guild will at some point force a reaction, no matter how calm the person on the other side is. But i have other reason, which i would rather discuss privately, and which are the reason why i am ultimately upset with Jill. The initial post on this subject was not very constructive, was more of a rant and flame. Sure the user(s) could have been more polite, but mods and admins should know that the biggest flamewars in the history of forums were caused by them trying to silence one of the sides. And again, i could give you a list of players so you could talk to them, but it wouldn't change much, i fear. Point number one in my topic was to strike back and to give mirror image of what i and a rather large group of others had to endure. Staff interverence would at some point just drive players off the shard in such matters, an actual discussion, no matter how heated it is, can sometimes solve things. But in all honesty, nobody behaved right in this matter, neither me, originally, nor any of those that joined the topic, who seemed to enjoy watching healthy fires.I agree that locking a hot topic usually doesn't settle anything, but I would also say that the topic could be discussed in a more polite way. Colibri, seriously ... have you ever seen me mad before ? Like to the point of doing anything like this ? I don't think so. And i happen to think that i have a pretty good reason, which i will give you privately in a moment. Other then that, meh. Just meh.

Man, you are annoying. And no, if it was me, i would not be concerned. I had people call me a newbie and things that the world filter would censor if they would not have used spaces and i ignored it.alung2k3 wrote:Ok so basically you want all the nasties to stop calling you bad names?

This is where you messed up

Re: Dear Staff
As said, i can take the beating very well, i'm not even worried about it. And the stooping down was, if you had read my post carefully, absolutely what i was trying to do. The entire point is however to get something moving. Gee ... you people are lucky you're not into politics ... stuff like this would have long been turned into an actual discussion.Hutson wrote:Adin wrote:Point number one in my topic was to strike back and to give mirror image of what i and a rather large group of others had to endure.
This is where you messed upBe the bigger person. You did nothing but stoop to another persons level. My wife pulls that move on me on a daily basis, which will only agitate me more since she doesn't respond, inciting me to provoke her more. It's all in good fun between she and I though, not nearly as volatile as this situation on the forums has appeared to be/become.
