Is there a limit on how high a single resist can be on a crafted piece too? I don't think I've seen anything over 26 before.

With platinum and 100 arms lore, the maximum resist is 54%. However, when crafting with a runic tool, additional resist bonuses may apply. In the case of this particular armor, it appears as though all the magical properties of the runic tool were directed into the resists. This is pretty rare! Usually you get other stats like stam regen or LRC or LMC.

in both tailoring and blacksmithing over 100% resists is actually quite normal if you have +5 smithy or +5 tailoring suits

this is one of the many things people would realize if they actually tried crafting, the weapons same thing.. there is alot of good stuff bother weapon/armor crafting can make the key is enuff attempts

That's the key for sure. Even with just 120 skill you can make some pretty awesome stuff with enough attempts. Took me about 4k attempts to get a Yumi I was happy with when I was a newer player.

And don't forget the exceptional damage bonus which goes over the cap
