Flax Farming Dilemma

So, I'm close to running out of cloth for bandages. I only have 60k bolts left and I decided to furnish my second house with plantable soil to grow more flax.

However, when I double click my flax seeds I'm told that flax "will not grow here."

So I visit these forums and read the crop changes; run back to the farmer to buy notes and a book; read the note (which said flax could be planted on crop land); try to plant again and nothing.

What am I doing wrong?

**Update: I tried moving my flax seeds from my HBOH (where they'd been for the last 4 years) into my main pack (I thought that might be the problem) but the seeds poofed. 155 seeds, gone.

Were they "old" flax seeds? With the update, the new crops have a limited yield instead of unlimited. That might be the case. Try buying a "new" seed and plant it.

Yes, they were super old. 4.5 years old as a matter of fact, ehehe.
