If you participate in no group hobbies which demand your attention and dedication, I kinda feel sorry for you. Those are part of what makes life fun.qbf wrote:What I can't stand are the generic over the top "SUPERBOWL SUNDAY! YEEEEE HAW! WE'RE GOING TO DIZZZNEYLAND BABY, YEEEEEEW!!!! USA USA USA!" (that's meant to be read with an American accent) parades that go with it. The whole thing grinds my gears, I prefer my sporting spectacles to be more understated and sophisticated, but I guess that's because I don't live in that consumerist, sensationalist society. I hate that people from within the USA try and make it seem like the rest of the world gives a damn about it.
If you do have such hobbies, consider carefully whether you're being elitist about other peoples' choice of hobby.
Personally, I couldn't care less about the superbowl and I plan to catch the often amusing halftime commercials on Youtube. But I don't make a habit of sneering at the hundred million folks who find the superbowl a great excuse to drunkenly party all day.
