Vendor system revamp
Re: Vendor system revamp
No, or I would have said that. I think anyone should be able to sell for whatever they want, anywhere. That make things a little more fair.
Re: Vendor system revamp
Oh so it's a self-serving issue? Level the playing field all around so you can partake?Jantra wrote:No, or I would have said that. I think anyone should be able to sell for whatever they want, anywhere. That make things a little more fair.
Sorry to break this to you, life isn't fair, no medals here for participation.
Players, start at TC, vote at TC, get EDs at TC, no reason why they shouldn't be able to use those EDs at TC.
TC is fine the way it is, as is MZ. Players are aware of item search site and will shop for better prices if need be.
Trading in your vendors gold for EDs isn't a hardship, players sell EDs for gold to buy items everywhere, npcs, players,
personal trades etc. no changes are required IMO.
I'm all up for changes if they are required. +C likely doesn't have the time to change things to satisfy the few, his goals are
to makes changes that better the masses.
Please call it for what it is, you don't have a vendor at TC and you're upset about it.
Re: Vendor system revamp
I absolutely don't care about having a vendor at TC. I do just fine at MZ. I was surprised though the day I went to list something for EDs and realized... I couldn't. Until that moment, I didn't realize that TC's had that one actual real advantage over vendors in other locations. I figured their advantage was location (TC being the heart of the server) and the better cost/vendor sales price.
Hence why I think that EDs, Tokens, Elven Notes, etc should all be allowed to be currency to be sold as anywhere on the server.

Gold is the universal currency. is what it is, as it should be.
Re: Vendor system revamp
Problem solved by myself a couple of years ago - don't use player vendors for buying or selling. If I can't get something myself now then do I really need it? or want it? Not everyone's cup of tea I realize but I do not believe it has negatively affected my enjoyment of this shard.
Used to have a vendor in MZ some time ago, was costing far more in rent then sales yielded so gave it up. By the time I became aware of great benefits to TC it was too late as chockers. Since cool-down on vacated seats was introduced I have only seen 3 become available & those 3 were still on cool-down by time I had to leave for work - that's life.
Not really sure exactly how the TC vendors work so forgive the following assumption:
TC vendors are basically rent free? But pay a % sale price on sale as a type of rent
My view on the real benefit for a TC is not the currency concept, as Charon said all the currencies can be bought/sold on [exex, it's the not having to pay hefty rent on a standard vendor whether you sell anything or not.
While +C has said nothing is likely to change in the near future, how about one bystanders idea for future consideration.
Town Center is the shard "Hub" fine - leave as is. Have a TC type vendor(with drawbacks) available to be purchased and placed anywhere. Say cost a largish sum up front to buy & have shard % commission say twice as much? Hefty rents are then addressed and TC still has the advantage of more of sale price going to player as well as best exposure to new players.
Also don't expect any support from players who already have a TC vendor, hehe, hardly a surprise.

Re: Vendor system revamp
If all vendors were like TC then prices of things would jump some also. If you ever relay watch the market here you can find what your looking to buy cheaper then in TC and that is because people add the sales cost of the item into the price. but out side of TC prices are usually cheaper. so some people usually buy out side TC and then sell on there vendor for more to cover the cost and try to make a small profit As TC is town central for a reason. and we want to keep it that way.
What i suggest is just making TC bigger add 2 more rows of vendors.

Re: Vendor system revamp
That's what everyone wants... just like Titan's hammers, Ancient weapons etc. If you made it so everyone got everything they wanted super easily, there would not be much fun, the whole game would be pointless. There needs to be some things you have to work for.Jantra wrote:I could even forgive pretty much everything else if it was possible to sell things for EDs anywhere you wanted.
Like PaPa, I wanted a TC vendor spot, so I camped it, tracked the players with lowest restock dates, checked their activity, and got a seat. I even saw an opportunity to move from back row to front row, so one morning I dropped, yes dropped my TC vendor to risk going for a better seat and pulled it off. A month later I got a friend a front row spot doing the same thing.
I have since got 2 other friends (3 total) TC vendor spots and announced 2 others in WC so I could watch the scramble. So that's 5 in the last 18 months or so. I am sure other players have seen many more.
If you really want a TC vendor spot, they are attainable. I think all the changes have got it just about right now, pending a drastic increase in population and server popularity...
That's like saying "It's unfair that PlayerX has better things than me in this MMORPG." A really foolish statement. If you want a game where everyone is on a dead even playing field and a day 1 char has the same chance to win as a day 4201 character, you are in the wrong game, the wrong genre. People accrue wealth and power in MMORPG's, it's pretty much the name of the game, especially in a PvE/PvM server like UOEX. TC vendor seats are just another item that is coveted by most for its usefulness (like a Bone crusher or Titan's Hammer). It would be pointless if everyone just got one because they are good and it made the server more fair.Jantra wrote:Why should you be worried if anyone can sell things for EDs wherever? It's about being fair. TC can have it's better spot that's got more people going to it and the better costs. That makes it a 'better' spot without making it ridiculously unfair.
No way! No a thousand times. It is already a lag centre and takes ages to locate a vendor as it is. The seats come up frequently enough as it is for this server size. If our population doubled you could add another row.PaPa wrote:What i suggest is just making TC bigger add 2 more rows of vendors.
Re: Vendor system revamp
I dont think there will be any support by people who own a TC vendor.
What I don't like about the current vendor system is that there is that you can just sell overpriced stuff and wait for somebody in to buy it. The system is MZ prevents that by charging according to your prices.
That is why you don't see the fancy stuff like relayers, SOTs, etc. anywhere else than in TC.
Making the system even for all vendors would add a lot of competition to the market of valuable items. I'm pretty sure that the majority of the shard would vote for a system change in the vendor system.

Re: Vendor system revamp
QBF, the problem isn't that TC has one advantage of all the other vendors. It's that it has multiple advantages ranging from small to massive over other vendors. As I said in previous replies, I have no problem with it having an advantage, maybe even two, but basically having every possible advantage over every vendor in the game? There's unfair, and there's incredibly unfair.
Re: Vendor system revamp
It's not unfair at all. Only a few people even complain about TC's vendors.
Make it a goal to get a TC vendor spot, not unlike any other goal in the game.
We have all made goals in game, get a large house complex, gain your first relayer, level that super awesome weapon you looted etc etc. Almost everything in this game is attainable by anyone. You need to have the desire and perseverance to get whatever that goal is, for instance a TC spot. If you had a TC spot you would you bring up it being unfair to other players?
Nope you sure wouldn't, your entire argument is self-serving.
IMO

Charon, just because you might act a certain way or think people will act a certain way doesn’t mean everyone does or will. TC would definitely still be a goal for many people. It still has, even if the currency situation was changed, other advantages to any other vendor placement.

So those advantages should therefore make it a goal for players to strive to achieve not cry foul about, which is kind of my point.
Re: Vendor system revamp
I think it can have advantages without being it being a ridiculously unfair advantage, as it currently is.

Re: Vendor system revamp
I'm in the military and have had to re-capture a TC seat 3 times. It's not that hard. The main Value of TC is that I can put something for dozens of items on sale for 2 million and it sits there for 4 months and then sells when the right buyer comes along. Doing that on your own vendor at your house isn't practical to do this because the daily tax on an item that expensive would cost more than eat the money you made.
Location is nice too but not that that amazing... being able to have a vendor in my home like at TC would be nice as it would give people a reason to go to some of our amazing homes here...
