should i stick with this? or get a better yumi?

Post by nocturne7saint »

this is the bow I'm using and leveling up right now, should i keep this? or should i invest in a better yumi?

if i buy a better yumi, how much will it run me? if i farm for a better yumi, where should i farm for it?
this bow does not do much damage for me, i need something better.

any advice is welcome

i think thats a very decent weapon.
for that wep id add 1 lower defense, 4 mana leech, 42 lightning, 43 magic arrow or harm & 8 strength.

disclaimer- i am most definitely NOT an expert on weapons
you can add damage increase with a sharpening blade so don't add anymore with leveling points.

Not an expert either, but I think this would be more of a transition bow given the dex and damage increase (assuming level points were applied). It can still be a very nice weapon you use for a while but unlikely to be considered end game material.

Once you get enough relayers for 220 dex, most players will focus on DPS for weapons using hit mana leech and hit spells (lightning, fireball, harm, magic arrow). Also, damage increase using level points is a big no-no since hitting the 100% damage increase cap gets fulfilled quite fast if you plan to have multiple relayers (alternatively, you can also use a sharpening stone).

You're working essentially with what looks like a 3x46 base weapon (excluding dispel) with spellchanneling. The resists are nice bonuses but veteran players likely would have other relayers to max resists as well. I think many people strive for a 4x46 or better with no hit area effect. Depends on the combination but I've seen these types of weapons typically in excess of 1 million gold and the sky is the limit (again depending on the combination) if you can get a 5x46, 4x58 or those ever elusive 5x58s.

There are 2 types of weapons.

1 - A transition weapon
2 - Endgame weapon

This weapons is obviously not even close to being endgame so lets look at the other category.

Is it good enough to be a transitional weapon? Meaning that you'll use it until you build your character and get a few relayers and get you to 220 Dex without horrible equipment? Possiblty.

If this weapon was a Yumi already i'd say yes, but the thing is that you'll have to spend 200ed just to change it to a Yumi and therefore it now becomes questionable. Is the investment worth the return? That's for you to decide.

Obviously don't waste anymore points on Dispel, Damage Increase, resistances, or anything other than getting your Lightning up to over 50% and depending on how many points you have left you can add Magic Missile.

A weapon has only 1 purpose. To deal damage. You shouldn't waste points on anything that doesn't add damage in one way shape or form. Having Dex can be deemed "acceptable" if it's an entry-level weapon so you can get to 220 but other than that...no.

Anyways, just my opinion :)

Definitely don't waste the ED type changing that into a yumi.

Could easily get a crafted yumi that is almost as good as that would be at a fraction of the cost of the type change deed. The crafted yumi would likely be significantly better since it is a yumi (better specials and waaaay better base dmg) even if it finished with slightly lower stats.

One more definite... definitely don't ever add damage increase to any weapon, ever, for any reason.

I use and have been using a yumi with a lower base quality than yours for over 10 years now and I've never struggled with my weapon. The problem with your weapon is the relatively poor usage of the points, the DI is ugly and pointless and if you're adding dex you should be using a crafted yumi... if you change it you'll think its fine and in 3 months when you're a little bit stronger, richer and more knowledgeable you'll rue doing it. I recently sold a 3x58 base with the same stats (HLD, HL, HML) for 225ed fresh. So that would be 425ED for an ancient yumi quality endgame yumi. I've seen similar base weapons for only 5-10mil at times, sold a few myself. Not everyone would sell the weapon for that low a price, but they do come up, or you can loot them from peerless bosses yourself since you have imps.

Also, shameless plug, I have many weapons of that quality on my vendor (Tamara in TC, centre front row west) for really cheap prices. I am talking like 0 to 200k. A few better ones at slightly higher prices.
