Player Run Events

I want to start this post off by thanking RGB for hosting their Lets Make A Deal event this weekend. I personally did not participate, well sort of. Sinja knows what I mean. Anyways, player run events are what helped made this shard great. Over the years, we've had several guilds and players hold events that were big success and added to the overall playing experience here. But, I personally feel we could do much better in this regard, especially from our wealthier residents.
Recently, I have seen posts concerned about the direction of the shard and the lack of events, and quite frankly lack of staff. Although they are a concern, I couldn't help ask myself, why don't these players host even simple events to make game playing here more interesting until our shard gets back to a solid staffing level. Some of you do, but most don't. I don't consider donating helping the shard. Donating helps +Colibri maintain this shard and it helps the donator acquire 'stuff', but it doesn't give back and help the playing community.
With all that being said, thank you to the players and guilds who keep the tradition of giving back to the shard going. As for me, in less than 60 days, I will be hosting Another Cygnus Milestone Event. It will be my 4th or 5th, I don't remember. Maybe more. Anyways, I suggest you look up my previous events here in the forums to see what to expect. I will run it as long as I have prizes to give away and I have lots of prizes. Some examples are +50 stat scroll, several weapons you should love to level, millions in gold, imps, etc... I will post more later on this.
I will run it so players on both sides of the world will have a shot at prizes. More info to follow.
In closing, lets see if we can get more guilds to follow RGB's example and more players to follow Lestat A Zero's example. If we all get involved, who needs staff run events.

yes agree well said, but IMHO for the players that complain its easier to complain about the shard rather than take an active part in the shard kind of like 'cursing the that dark instead of lighting a candle'

Nicely put. Yeah, and player events (in other words, community involvement) is one of the main things that I have in mind with this big overhaul. At this point I'm still focusing on the technical stuff so I'm not yet clear about what forms it will take. I remember helping Lestat set up his event, and I also remember the issues that followed, but it's a good example of what can be done.

Looking forward to your event, and I'm glad that the Event Participation Items stone is coded and working
