Champ Spawning rules
Re: Champ Spawning rules
After a bit more exploring of dungeons and champs I think Fingers made some good points. I would vote for his idea to make a limit on one or two champs per day per account.
I have recently noticed two things that surprised me about champs.
I have been finding the tokuno champ spawn up frequently but have been having a hard time getting people to do it with me. People in chat just keep saying that is was lame or took too long. Its a perfectly fine champ in my opinion.
I am willing to do the hard champs like blood clan but I don't see much motivation since last time I did it we didn't get any gold or scrolls at all. (Everyone present at the Champ's death crashed at the same time...which was odd...and no one got anything that I know of). I'm not too enthusiast about going after a champ that hits for 650 damage if there's no reward.

Re: Champ Spawning rules
I have all sorts of excuses for avoiding champs. Too fue for the players already so I won't take a spot. Too many arguments around them. Don't know where that one is. Then there's the lag that sometimes pops up. To me several of them are reasons but excuses will do.
It is annoying to hear about people not following the champ spawn rules as this thread was started about. It's annoying to have people arguing after killing the champ about spoils rather then either discussing it before or just going with the moment. I deal with it by avoiding it so whatever.
A portal to go through that locks after the eight candles sounds good. Wouldn't mind it being to the actual room for the newbe one so I could go into the room before and watch, or something like that with others. I was too busy trying to kill to watch the other person to see how they were doing things. Is any of this possible?

Re: Champ Spawning rules
Hey !! Hiya !! My 1st post here !! Woot !!
Ok here's my view of things.
When I check out a spawn, if it's on, i'll first call up my guildmembers (roomates), and we try to do it. If we can't we will ask for backup and we will be redy for anything.. (Like someone coming at candle 10 and getting a 120 taming whitout whining cause he/she DID come help).
I travel a lot and always did in UO. If I come across a champ that is running, I will just politly ask if I can join. But that person must be concient that if I do, i MAY get a scroll and MAY get a bit of cash (I use scavenger), BUT, will always tell at the end something like "I picked up 30k and a 110 whatever" and see from there if the sharing part kicks in. I know some champs drop quite a bit of cash (upwards of 120k, some may even drop more). But what i'm trying to say is : If u come help me at a spawn and are truthfull about it, we will do a even split (at least cash wise). If I come help you in a spawn and see the person just picking all the gold and recalling out, I won't go help that person again
Talks about a portal forming, stopping people entering at candles 8 and up is kinda cool...but..
Let's say i'm doing Rikktor, me and my 2 roomates (all sharing same IP, 3 accounts, 3 comps, same connection)... It's very hypothetical, but if our net fails at candle 10-11 and we all die, that means no backup whatsoever ?
And that gate would have to be put a special place.. *Visuallizes Destard with the rez stone OUTSIDE*...
Oh well, just my 2 cents... Be sure that if u call for my help to a spawn and I go, I will ALWAYS be truthfull of what I got/picked up. And if I don't go ,it's not specificly because I don't "appreciate" someone, it may be lag issues, money low for insurance, or just plain too hard for my blood (speaking of blood and necro...those arent for me now, especially if they give no rewards...)
Peace to all

Re: Champ Spawning rules
Ok here's my take on the portal thingy. I think that the gate should remain open until you reach candle 8 OR until 6 people have crossed through.
Another shard i was on, they had the 6 people rule and the gate would close. they also had it to where, IF only 1 person showed up and no one else came through the gate within 5 minutes then the champ would stop. This kept peeps from doing champs alone b/c its actually pretty fun doing it with your friends not just by yourself. if there were 2 or more people there then the champ would continue on and the gate would close after candle 3.
Kinda liked this idea, and we also had the Honor virtue in place to where you could honor the champ bosses and get some nice titles for your paperdoll
Anyway, i love the portal idea leading to the champ. maybe we could even impliment a 2 to 6 rule too someday. would definitely promote people working together

Re: Champ Spawning rules
I have the ability to solo most champs, but dont usually do it, pehaps with the exception of the MOA's when i can find one up.. and then, I only want the Mule... my experience with the last two moa's i tried with other people were not good ones.. THE sole reason I do them, is for the mule, and both times they killed the mule, the second time I went to great lengths to make sure they knew it was all I wanted.. so basically, I no longer do champs with the exception of, if my Guild calls me in to help them on a champ.. thus avoiding ALL of the unpleasantness..
I have gone to check champs, zoomed in to see how many candles were up... see 2 candles. 4 candles 6 candles whatever the number, and already the person at the champ is spamming "LEAVE NOW" or "PLEASE LEAVE!" before i can ask.. because despite the fact that I shouldnt even need to ask, I do, and since they dont want me i leave.. however, it does seem to confuse me a little.. do they get less scrolls if other people join? if that is the case, isnt that backwards?
wouldnt a simple fix to all of thes be, to change the amount of scrolls and gold? If the champ is done by one person, they get 1 scroll and a small amount of gold, while if there were 6 people there they might get two or three scrolls and 6 times as much gold?
This would avoid the angry people that want you to go away rather than being friendly and asking you to join.
I might consider doing champs again,
A gate into the champ, perhaps not limiting the number of people, but, after say the seventh person went through, he would get no tokens or scrolls?
Of course this will not stop them from killing the mules

Yeah I like to pride myself in not just jumping in as well. It's common courtesy to ask, regardless of how many candles are up. I haven't had many issues with other players not returning the favor, but there's still a few bad apples.KnitePrince wrote:...because despite the fact that I shouldnt even need to ask, I do, and since they dont want me i leave
I love that idea! Not only would there be more group participation but the prices on powerscrolls would start to drop, making all the younger players happy.KnitePrince wrote:wouldnt a simple fix to all of thes be, to change the amount of scrolls and gold? Now if only we got the T2A champ spawns activated...

At that rate they might as well drop checks.

I guess i dont understand the statement? is that meant sarcasticly?Harabakc wrote:At that rate they might as well drop checks.
If one person does a champ alone, they get mayne 20k gold... if up to six people do it, they get enough gold to split so they each get 20 to 30k gold.. why is that so bad?
Currently I average 20 to 30k when helping the guild do undead and theres five or six of us there, so is it still out of line? If that WAS meant sarcasticly, come up with a better idea, if you do, i will certainly applaud it. if it was not then I am sorry i took it that way, and why I explained in this post what I meant.
Re: Champ Spawning rules
I really wasn't talking to anyone in particular, just the spirit of the whole thread thus far.
You can pull 200k out of Coon easy, Neria is quite similar. MOA drops next to no gold, even doing it the money way.
95% of you people that do champs lose 50%-75% the gold right off the top. That's excluding the champ getting walled and losing half of what it actually drops.
My record for gold from a single champ was 1.6 million. But I sat at phase 4 for a while earning gold.
If we have to resort to a state where champs cease to be champs, what's the point? Why not just spawn gold checks and scrolls in people's inventory when they walk up to the altar. Ideally I'd like to see stepped up enforcement, and yes I know what that requires and acknowledge it might not be entirely possible.

Hara, my hero
I was basically typing the same thing earlier but had to get work done and lost the post, lol. Anyways, totally agree with you. I think the penalty for champ rule breaking should even be raised to really sway people from trying to mess around. if the punishment is severe enough then no one will be troublesome or 'tempted' to interfere or break the rules.

Make all the younger players happy, lol. Ever since the Noob champ came around prices for powerscrolls have been plummeting especially the 120's. If the prices for powerscrolls drop even more they wouldn't be worth anytthing.BlaZe wrote:I love that idea! Good point, but that mainly affects the crafting skills.Gumbi wrote:Ever since the Noob champ came around prices for powerscrolls have been plummeting especially the 120's.
I wouldn't mind seeing more of the ~mil-value scrolls out there, since they're just so scarce (and maybe because I still need 120 taming..

Re: Champ Spawning rules
does it only drop crafting ps like moa?
