Btw, I'm aware of the situation... Maybe after I code the recall cooldown, i can tackle this one. There's a lot of ideas about what should get priority, but maybe this one gets mentioned so often for so long, we can consider it a priority.

Since the ballys were all nerfed and no recall cooldown was needed. I'm bumping this post again since its been 6 months

I'm going to be honest +C, should I set a RemindMe! 1 year? This thread dates back to Dec 2019... not much happened before or after this date in general that we could account for.

After waiting years for Elysium only to see it cancelled. After years of all those wonderful new clothes, items and mount graphics just sitting in the game files with most never being used I find it best to expect nothing, at least you won’t be disappointed.

This hue thread is from 2019, below is a thread about hues from 2016. This was when the idea was half coded that it would cost guilds gold to keep their guild hue active. I dumped 5 mil on TDC’s guild stone back when I was guild leader. Now I’m not in it and there are no active players in it either. The hue I picked as a newbie that I later made TDC guild colour is locked out to me and is virtually unseen by anyone, and I’m out 5 mil.

True story. I remember all the talk of Elysium and Touria when I first came to UOEX in 2012 lol. I think I still have some Book of Touria and some kind of other related item from +Veritas that was supposed to be a precursor to the opening. Probably 80% of the player base now is thinking "What the heck is Elysium?"

I still don't think this even needs a new system to be coded or any other fix.

Simply release all hues and have no system or method to reserve any hue. Hue-hogging hurts all players. Just release them all. Read the thread, its a unanimous, no-brainer.

A few players whine about balron gold, it's nerfed promptly. The entire server wants hue reservation to be removed and it can't happen.... I am not a smart man... but I am seriously confused about why the hues are locked up.

Yea I came back and found the hue I'd been using for years gone. I'd be a lot more annoyed if I actually changed gear but all it's really costing me is dying my new veteran reward mounts. That being said I would love if guilds could just stop reserving hues and let everyone have access to them.

This sums up my all my existence in excelsior. Is there player category somewhere? We've been asking for a zero impact modification and its been delayed forever. Nuking an entire gold source in the entire server (not just the places of concern) happened almost instantly.

A player a few years ago said somewhere in the forums " get used to this, what you see is what you get". I've tried believing otherwise but I'm becoming weary of so many years of nothing except a bad decisions every one in a while.

This is a falsehood. It's not just a "few players" that asked about the correction in Balron gold drops and it certainly didn't happen almost instantly. If you search the forum you'll see threads about the issue of Balron gold drops at from 8-10+ years ago.

Not saying the balron issue didn't need a fix, glad it has finally been done. Do not let this thread be derailed. I was using it to highlight that things can be changed when there's a perceived need.

W don't need a fancy scripted solution here. Just release all the hues, in their entirety for all, make hue reservation a thing of the past! #Freethehues

I'm on board with just releasing all hues. No guild reservations, no personal reservations.

Guilds already have a way to broadcast that they're in a guild: The guild tag. It's unmistakable.

Personal reservations are just begging to be exploited. It's the nature of MMOs and especially UO to seize any available resource and monopolize it, so any reservation system that you can come up with is likely to end the same. A gold-fee would likely curb some of the over-reservation, but rich players likely don't see the fee as something worth a passing thought. Just load a few million gold into a guild stone and check back in a year.

Part of the joy of playing MMOs is customizing your character to fit a theme or style and when your only option for colors are the various cat-barf sparkles that aren't reserved, it's very disheartening.

It should be much simpler to just remove all the existing code around hue reservations than to spend months or years coding up a whole new system that will quickly be exploited in a different way in a fraction of the time.

I don't think most people can identify a reserved hue on sight unless it's one they've used in the past and then suddenly found it gone.

Releasing all the hues wouldn't even detract that much from guild dye tubs since they still get to use a hue you would otherwise need a uni dye tub for. It would just be nice if that color was still available to the rest of us.

Another vote here for opening up the hues. Way too many nice hues are restricted. Customizing our characters through hues and item appearances at least keeps things feeling somewhat fresh/new since there has been a flatline in terms of content.

For those new players who may not be familiar with the issue you might need to read some of the posts about the number of hues reserved by inactive guilds or individual players who made a guild purely to spitefully reserve one of our few good colours.

Alternatively, type [guilds and read it for yourself. The number of obsolete, single person guilds taking our good colours is just depressing. There's a simple solution that is unanimously supported by the community: Remove the guild hue reservation system and let us use all the colours!
