Newbie question

Post by solidstation »

Hello. I live in a non-English speaking country, so I am using a translator to write this. Please understand if some sentences seem a bit awkward.

I played Ultima Online for a few years during the Second Age, and after longing for it for a long time, I recently discovered this shard and started playing again. There are many unfamiliar things, and I am still getting lost often, but solving each problem is quite enjoyable.

There are many things I am lacking and curious about. Among them, the most challenging thing right now is increasing my strength, dexterity, and intelligence. It seems very difficult. I would be very grateful if I could get some tips on how others are raising these stats.

If there is already an answer to this question that I haven't found yet, I would appreciate it if you could provide a link.

Additionally, while I know the stat combinations should vary for each profession, I am curious about general recommendations for the main areas.

I wish good luck to everyone who reads this and look forward to your advice. Thank you for reading.

Welcome!

I think there's a limit on the stats that make them harder to raise - I think you can get one point of gain per 15 minutes or so? Not sure.

You raise them the normal way and can get a lot of points by just macroing overnight in the training room attacking the trainer NPCs there. Or by using skills that raise that stat.

The faster way is to use skill essences - they're little orange bottles that raise either Str, Dex or Int. You can find them all over the place on vendors: https://vendors.uoex.net/index.php?save ... nsold=true

I wouldn't pay much for them myself though - they drop constantly in Felucca and I just trash them all usually. Once you have some basic fighting skills macroed up, you can just go to Felucca and kill random mobs for essences.

Stuff hits a little harder there, but honestly like 99% of fel isn't a scary place - just bring a weapon with magic hits on it or be prepared to cast some damage spells on the Umms. (They only take magic damage, but are otherwise very weak)

Welcome to the shard! Things are indeed different since normal T2A (enjoy the new maps). You should have a look around our wiki page "https://www.uoex.net/wiki/Main_Page".

You can have a character with all skills here so preferably stats are increased according to gameplay. In mid-range build you have probably all of them above limit.
The main differences for stat build here is that we have "God mod" which is instant healing with bandages when you reach 220 DEX:
Seee: https://www.uoex.net/wiki/220_Dex_Guide .

So in a more personal opinion now, for stat build I would just block Int in minimum and focus on STR and DEX because I'd prefer more fighter and cast paladin/bushido spells. Int and mana can be increased by gear. But if you prefer a caster gameplay mana pool could be important. So go as you feel and have fun. If you need any particular stat increase you can ask around for armour/jewelery with some stats.

EDIT: UOGUIDE website has a lot of information that is also valid here. So if by any chance you can't find it in our wiki you can try there. Or just ask around :)

Thank you very much for the detailed explanation. It seems like it will take a long time to adapt because it's quite challenging. However, since it's a game worth the effort, I'll steadily learn and enjoy it. I always find gameplay enjoyable! I wish I could make friends, but it's disappointing that real-time conversations are difficult, so I often end up playing alone.

Thanks again.

We have players from all over. Perhaps you may find native speakers here. If you use discord you can send a "[pm" to "Matrix" and he will add you to our unofficial discord server. It makes things easier because you can talk with others and easily copy messages to use a translator if needed.
