Temporary items

For what it's worth: looking in as a player, a temporary item has to be pretty extraordinary for it not to completely suck. Power-hour gear? Pretty cool. Jack-o-lanterns? Nice permanent deco for the haunted house. Worthless as temporary items. Like the halloween candy. The original permanent ones years ago were cool. The current temporary ones are visual trash that gets in the way of the target cursor for [claim.

And is there really a reason to not allow folks to keep their halloween tokens from year to year? Does use-it-or-lose-it add any fun to the game?

Down with temporary items! Down I say!

100% behind this. No temporary items, absolutely terrible idea in my opinion. If i wanted to watch things rot i would engage in real life, this is a game, i dont want my items rotting. All pumpkins should always be permanent. All items should always be permanent.

On that, can anyone answer the following with a single word (yes or no):

Are the current jackolanterns and any jackolanterns crafted with the current system permanent/going to be made permanent?

I am just confused a bit about what +c said about pumpkins, are they going to be made permanent? Ones that are already crafted will be permanent? Anyone clarify what he meant in his post about pumpkins? Sorry, I know that's a lot of questions, I just thought that post was vague... the first part implies they will be permanent. Then it seems to say there will be multiple types, I don't know which type I own, temp or permanent. I want to make more jack o lanterns, but given how hard it is to make them I do not want to waste seeds on temporary items....

I made 2 and when I locked them down they do not say temp item. When they are unlocked they return to saying Temporary Item. It's my understanding that he was going to make them permanent because the seeds were meant to be permanent. Toss in the price of a carving kit, it's not likely anyone will do them for a temp jack o'lantern. I think you can eat them too which would be nice to have removed.

Yes, the first statement seemed to say they would be made permanent, but then it goes on about somee being permanent, some not permanent... in the end I can't really tell what +C was trying to say on them.

Mine still definitely have the temporary item tag when locked down.

I guess I will just wait for clarification before i keep buying/using the seeds.

Pumpkins this year are intended to be permanent. He ran a command to make current temporary ones permanent. Any temporary ones should be made permanent soon.

Warren was part of the world chat conversation, but thought I would answer in the forums in case anyone was not monitoring world chat at the time.

Thank you for clarifying that +C.

That pink hued "Temporary Item" tag is a nasty and traumatic thing. Please use it sparingly (or not at all) +C.
