Anti pvp? Lack of excitment

Excuse me for my English.
Re: Anti pvp? Lack of excitment
ok thats what I thought. For some reason I got the impression that some items were being combined.
If it is worth doing at all, it is worth doing well.

Re: Anti pvp? Lack of excitment
this is more a response i would like to seee, not that its the response i prefer thanks for a honoest viewpointfingers wrote:Using the word "granted" implies that that part is not for pvp, but still illustrates my opinion as some player do invest 159 millions or 5300 Ed's on their suit (wich could all have been put in weapon/armor layering).
Anyway, to sum my thoughts about all this pvp thread, I am firmly against it because:
1. There would be fights at places where some people not in pvp could be intimated, young kids, to name one category.
2. There would be AFK kills, and such.
3. People would whine about being ganked, not ready, unfairly treated, etc.
4. There are too many stupidly overpowered spells to enable pvp, namely trees, smite and clerical heals.
5 There are too many stupidly overpowered Pets to enable pvp, namely pack of nobles wich you cant outrun and each have 1000 hp, pack instinct and breath damage.
6. There are too many stupidly overpowered armor, that you can layer to combine incredible mods, making you almost unkillable.

This is against the shard rules, however if anyone wishes to battle, they may do so in the PvP dungeon. We have an option for group rooms also (newly available) where the first person to enter one of these rooms will set the rules for that room. One can also choose the specific people they wish to allow into that room for the planned time. The length of time one can use a room is for 1 hour, but one can PM a GM if they have an event that they wish to reserve a room for, in the case that it might exceed the 1 hour maximum time aloted. The rule book and the room gates are within the entrance room to the PvP dungeon, located to the northeast.Karma wrote:If there is realy enouph interest in pvp I could and would have no problem starting a fight club guild. I could easly turn the bottom floor of my house into a battle room. Mayeby the bottom 2 floors if enouph people were interested. Simple rules teamed events would be blue robes vs red robes. Only gm crafted gear would be alowed nothing that had been ed to keep the playground as even as possable. All chat about fights to be kept in guild chat. Rules being broke gets you banned from house and removed from guild.

Re: Anti pvp? Lack of excitment
Ah, PvP the evil of all evils... i'd just like to say that i kinda understood from the get go that this was basically a non pvp shard. wich is fine with me. although i understand that there is a pvp dungeon for players who wish to pvp. basically your'e gonna have people who wanna pvp and those who dont. now theres obiviously some people who have leet gear and those who don't and im not hating or anything. we all know ya get what ya work for. but i kinda think it would be nice to implement some kind of pvp system. for those who wish to have a murder count. everyone knows pvp is something you choose to do on your own free will. no one twists your arm
and if you want to take a chance against someone who is gonna beat ya well thats just your stupidity shining through. heck i say lets not even worry about pvp let's implement factions o0. thats what id really like to see on excelsior. im not flaming here hope i dont get booted or anything. but i kinda say what would it hurt to implement a pvp/faction system for the willing? i can only guess there are just as many who wanna pvp as there is who dont.

I would like you to direct me to where it is written that you can't fight between consenting guildmates in a private house.+Rayne wrote:This is against the shard rules...Karma wrote:If there is realy enouph interest in pvp I could and would have no problem starting a fight club guild. I would also recommend following the FIRST RULE in the codex:
"General motto: Have fun and let others have fun. Use common sense and respect other members of the community."
Thanks!
Re: Anti pvp? Lack of excitment
Well I only posted that idea as most seem to whant to cry instead of post any kinda reasonable idea. I'm prolly middle of the road on ed gear I do have a bit but not as much as others. I only sugest going gm gear only cause thats would lvl the playing field a bit. I realy think those against doing it that way arnt looking for pvp their looking to gank. Why else would you not wana give the new guys a chance at a fair fight. I understand you worked for your gear and earned the right to wear it. You need to understand to pvp it takes some kinda comunity that wishes to do so. Not to many are going to play against those in god mode period, its not gona happen and is rather silly to think it will. Its quit clear the gms arnt gong to change the pvp aspect of the shard. The only way your gona get any kinda pvp action here is if people step up and host player events. The only way people are gona show up for those things on any kinda regular basis is if the playing field is leveled a bit. Wearing our ed gear and mowing over people maybey fun for a day or so till those with out the gear stop playing and the pvp stops cause none will play.
Re: Anti pvp? Lack of excitment
Now I could care less either way in this debate. I came to the shard to introduce my two sons to the world of UO and thus far they have loved it.
I wasn't going to post at all, since I don't have an opinion either way, but +Rayne's post goes against what is stated in the Codex.
And I quote:
5. PvP:
a. No Player Killing. PvP/Dueling is allowed, but outside of town limits, and outside of any public areas.
b. PvP is by some players seen as offensive, and frightening - do your fighting in a private place - or you can be warned/killed/jailed.
c. No indirect player killing, such as intentionally causing a monster to go near a player that was not informed of your actions.
d. We take all non-agreed player-harmful actions very seriously, the penalties for which can be jail or ban.
I can't think of anything "public" about a private house, and houses are outside of towns limits (so both rules 5a and 5b are not broken), typically.
So a fight club, amongst volunteering players (which you have to agree upon in order to join the guild, so rule 5d is not violated), obeys every rule stated about PvP, and violates none.
I say if they want to have fun in the privacy (aka not public) of their own homes amongst consenting players, let them.
Besides, while they bash their brains out against each other, it just means less peeps killing Ballys lol

Re: Anti pvp? Lack of excitment
Again, I really don't care either way whether this happens or not, but you're completely missing the point. I don't know if you're purposefully doing it to try and make some ridiculous point about how awful certain people are, or if you just aren't reading it correctly.I realy think those against doing it that way arnt looking for pvp their looking to gank. Why else would you not wana give the new guys a chance at a fair fight.
The proposed idea is an OPT IN system. This isn't a default that you have to opt out of. You have to choose to participate. There wouldn't be any new guys, unless they choose to do it.

This information is outdated. The rule as stated in my post has been enforced for a year or more. This is a great example of, what an Admin tells you may trump the codex.Glyph wrote:

Re: Anti pvp? Lack of excitment
As big an issue as pvp seems to be on this server I'd say the codex really needs updated! Especially if the rules on it have been changed for at least a year...
Re: Anti pvp? Lack of excitment
No im not missing the point. I just dont or cant belive you honestly belive even if they did add a opt in pvp if people with alot of ed gear includeing myself in that bunch, that there will be much pvp with those running around in god mode. I myself think if people would pvp more if it was gm gear only cause it would open the field up a bit more, allowing more to particpate makeing it more fun than just five or six guys with ed gear pointless beating on eachother beacuse of there hp/dex/aids outhealing any damage being done. Its verry simple im not saying ed shouldnt be allowed im saying if you whant to pvp then you shouldnt use it as your not going to do anything but kill pvp by wearing it. People are here alot cause its a non pvp, getting said people interested in pvp, then ruuning them over like a train isnt going to keep them interested. Then your back to the same 5 or so guys with ed gear pointlessly beating on eachother.
Re: Anti pvp? Lack of excitment
What're you calling GM gear?
I have a SINGLE piece of gear that has been changed with ED. ALL of the rest of my gear is normally achieved by anyone who puts the work into it. And what I do can be done without that 1 piece of gear, it's just there for the sake of making it easier on me.
Man, what I wouldn't give to say what I want.

Fair enough, but might I make a humble suggestion?+Rayne wrote:This information is outdated. The rule as stated in my post has been enforced for a year or more. This is a great example of, what an Admin tells you may trump the codex.

If you have enough time to correct me for quoting the only rules we have posted to go by, and educating us that this is obsolete information (which is all well and fine)....if you have all the time to do this, don't you think you could make some time to update the rules so there is no confusion?
I mean, obviously, outdated, but still posted rules seem to be causing this debate. Correcting the oversight might alleviate threads like this as "open and shut" cases.
Just a suggestion.
Re: Anti pvp? Lack of excitment
sorry just figured most would understand what I ment by gm gear. What I ment was gear craftable only by the players no arties no ed geared ect.
I have nothing against ed gear I have a few pieces and prolly will get more. I think the fact that we can fine tune our chars is fantastic and one of the reasons I play here. But I do think if I was a person whanting solid pvp action Id understand that god mode= death of pvp.
I understand such concepts so when I said if there was realy any interest in pvp id be willing to try and put togeather something and gave a brief descrption of how it would work. If I was to put the event togeather or fight club how ever you wana look at it it be player crafted gear only. As I see that being the only way for pvp on this shard to last.
Looks like Rayne hs ruled it a no no so its realy a mute point now anyways.
