Save the shard! Vote for the Zero Tolerance Bill!
Re: Save the shard! Vote for the Zero Tolerance Bill!
I guess i agree with the zero tolerance policy. after playing on atlantic/ea shard for over 6 years. id pretty much heard every foul word there is for sure. i like the idea that the shard is really clean. meaning language filters plus the incentive of tokens for keeping it clean. are there some people who deserve a good let me say cursing out? well sure ive allready ran across a few.but sometimes ya got to step up and be the better person. i have to say that the chat/filth filter is pretty extreme it does its job well. ah well im completly happy with the bs* cough in the emote list it suits me well ^-0

Former Altantic shardie as well. Conner and Shalegh were my Tamer and crafter if ya happen to know me
But that was from Beta till about 4 years ago.

If it is worth doing at all, it is worth doing well.

Played Atlantic 5 years, almost always on a red

Re: Save the shard! Vote for the Zero Tolerance Bill!
Hehe I had one red but honestly couldnt stand pvp in uo.....so i mainly crafted and killed Ogre's with my dragon.......alot has changed since those days.

Re: Save the shard! Vote for the Zero Tolerance Bill!
I think there are some very simple solutions to some expliots. Ones that wouldnt require warning til your face turns blue, or jail/ban. Just my thoughts here, feel free to consider them for the personal openions they are...
if someone is doing something afk or exploity that raises a skill, gm's can set the skill to -30.0 of where it is when they are caught, and lock it. when the player gets back, they just wasted all that time afk and possibly went down skills instead of gaining.
if someone is doing something to gain item xp, gm can remove 5 levels from the item (ouch!) and unequip it. again, possibly losing some of what they were trying to gain.
If someone something that is gaining resources, gm can remove all of those resources from thier pack and fill thier pack with rocks, heavy enough the player can neither move nor put anything else in pack until the rocks are removed (or something less collectable than rocks)
There really are some very easy ways, IMHO, to enforce stricter rules without having a zero tolerance.
Yeah, I know, probly not the best thread to make my first post in

It's just like "gun control" new rules don't mean crap if you're enforcing the ones in place now.

First of all, you can frequently find people either getting tokens or [claiming while away from the computer.
This is a major problem, and I really feel like this needs attention desperately.
At this point I wont name any names, but I have a list. This is definitely something the staff should be being proactive about.

How do you know they're afk?

In a way, I don't know for sure. But how I know is that Ill see someone like at the bottom of fandancers camping a balron and they dont respond at all. Another way is that I have heard people talk about it in towncenter, and not only hear people talking about others doing it, but doing it themselves.
I personally don't have a problem with AFK playing. Personally, I'd love to be able to, but it bothers me if others are doing it without regards to the rules.

I think the results of this poll are a good guess as to the percentage of people who either have done it or do it.
Re: Save the shard! Vote for the Zero Tolerance Bill!
There are no rules about responding to people. I choose not to answer people when I don't want to. You don't have to be active at the game screen every second you're logged in to be considered not afk.

Re: Save the shard! Vote for the Zero Tolerance Bill!
Totally agree with you. I don't think you would ever be one of the people violating the rules.
Re: Save the shard! Vote for the Zero Tolerance Bill!
As far as the results of a skewed poll go, I wouldn't put much stock in it.
