Re: Enough is Enough
If your steak needs gravy, you need a new chef.
My only thoughts on this, is there should be a warning first for anything that isnt clear on the rules section of the website. I havent had the occassion to be warned/jailed yet (hopefully wont either) so I cant say if this is in place, just that its my only input based on what others are saying. Id be depressed if I was jailed for something without warning that I didnt know was against rules because it wasnt on the website.

Is farting at the court square in brit bank illegal? i think i shall try and see if i get ganked by the carebear squad. ooo he farted and it offended my child. c'mon depending on circumstances if warranted yea someone should be jailed. theres a lot of brownosing that goes on behind the scenes. reminds me of myspace kinda a bunch of fakers. we all know what types of things shouldn't be discussed in public chat. peeps talk alot of crap about gm's admin's or whatever but when one hops online then begins the a**kissing contest. plain and simple if ya know what youre about to say is gonna cause trouble bite your lip and dont say it. i do everyday

Re: Enough is Enough
+Rayne just banned someone and she has no idea that she is about to cause the end of this server.
Colibri, I recommend you start a new server and get rid of this trash you have as administration, because you are a kick a$$ guy and have a kick a$$ server.

Re: Enough is Enough
I get what you're saying, about this not being a democracy, but keep in mind, in a way it is. What is it that keeps a shard running? Players. If you make enough players mad by yelling at them because they may have offended someone who really, if they can't handle a simple chat, they need to grow up, well, you're going to start losing players. Just like Fingers (Polar Bear)... now, when the ball starts rolling in that direction, it's going to be VERY hard to get it to stop and you will lose the shard.
It's not a threat, it's simply pointing out that indeed, this IS a democracy, like it or not, as the players are the only ones that make the shard what it is... Without them, it's just another empty shard like hundreds of others.
I like the shard, like I said, and I like that my daughter can play there as well, but if someone voices an opinion in chat, and is NOT using foul language or making crude remarks, I'm really not too worried about it. I have taught my daughter that drugs are bad, and I don't think 2 or 3 people having a normal conversation in regards to laws in different states / countries is going to affect her at all.
I swear, some of the people here must live inside of a bubble if such chat is really so offensive. I take offense to religious chat, yet that is never punished, so, where do I stand on that? I ignore the conversation. I would suggest some of you try doing the same thing once in a while.
What I had said when I got my warning was misread and I've since had the warning revoked, thank you for that, but at the same time, I don't think anything said the other night was something kids/parents don't hear daily on television, radio, and from other people. Hey, even states have commercials about it on television trying to get people to vote one way or the other. You don't think that kids see that too?
Really, a select group of people REALLY need to take a time out and relax a little bit... If you guys had it your way, there would hardly be a single chat line showing up. Like I said, no matter what is said is going to offend someone or another, and some of you take it WAY too seriously. Time to grow up.

Re: Enough is Enough
I have to completely disagree with that. I never had trouble with ANY of the gm's in 90 days. I DID let slipped a few references in public chat but I try to be careful.Rained wrote:+Rayne just banned someone and she has no idea that she is about to cause the end of this server. .
+Rayne has created some wicked dungeons here, some will say they need tweaks, it's ok, it' s their view

Saying she will cause the end of the server is bad, as whitout her, we would have LESS content.
Someone said also that gm's go on "power trips". I also think that's not true.
If I was a gm and saw people talking about stuff they should be careful about all day, and doing nothing. I would probably end up "pissed" after repeating 1000 times the same thing and would probably be a tad more severe for next offender as warning to others. That's why i'm not gm, I don't like the stress and they go through A LOT of it. I DO think they are doing the best they humanly can to keep a certain kind of balance.
And Rained, to get back to you... I'm not saying we should all bend down and lick the gm's .... shoes, but attacking them personnly aint gonna make u be liked a lot...
Peace

Re: Enough is Enough
I think that this place has been run, and greatly in my opinion, for all 9 months I been here and the entire 3 years of it's existence! The rules about chatting with adult content are not changed for donating players... the rules are for everyone and has never been a problem for me, my babysister, my brother, and my sister and her husband who live next to us to obey. Because of that we have had a pleasurable experience here and try to make it the same for any new people. When you lash out in anger at the shard and administrators on global and on forum... I think a banning is an understatement...
Re: Enough is Enough
As a staff member of a forum, and an owner of a social networking website, I understand the responsibility of keeping a steady hand on the control of people's chatter, but I do not agree with any kind of unwarned banning period. This isn't a "you should" or "your shouldn't" post, but a "value of consequences" post.
I am a very public substance user. I openly encourage DISCUSSION of the use, abuse. pros & cons of any substance. I can tell you anything about any drug. I know the toxicity level of acetaminophen. I could literally talk for about 2 years straight about drugs and never repeat myself once. I understand that some people get all kinds of "boohoo" about the glorification of drug usage, and think that it's the end of the world if someone talks about it, but I have saved more lives then I could ever count, because I have the knowledge and the answers that people don't have. In my gaming experience, I have come into contact with many people who have needed advice on several different drug and alcohol situations, that could have ended very very badly, and if they didn't get that information in game, then they never would have gotten the information. I've also saved lives outside of the online world, when other people were just going to make it worse.
As many of us know, and fewer of us (including staff) are willing to admit, drug abuse and gaming go hand in hand. Some parents are already on the wrong path of telling their kids that drugs are bad, because it can cripple communication between them and their children, and that's a very unfortunate thing. I am most definitely not saying to not talk to your kids about drugs or to say that you should just tell them to do whatever they want, but there must be a clear distinction of communication, and acceptability.
I will openly disregard any rule, if I feel that someone needs answers about specifically prohibited subjects, and if I get banned for that then so be it, but let it be after all questions are answered, and I better be warned first before the ban. I am like a bull in the china closet when I'm blind sided.
I know I am brand new to the shard, and those who have interacted with me knows that I am friendly, and happy to help in any way that I can. I don't want to stir up anything, but I do think that the reaction of the players is pretty extreme, and I will definitely say that no one has mentioned the addiction of video games, and the consequences of gaming. There have been a handful of suicides as a DIRECT result of what happens in a game.
I don't wanna hear anyone trumping up the severity of talking about marijuana, I don't wanna hear people blaming video game chatter for the answer as to why their kids are out drinkin lean and doing coke, when it's more then likely a splendid combination of peer pressure and bad parenting.

On behalf of the staff members of this shard, I would like to thank everyone for their support and patience on these matters. We do, even though few of you question it, look out for your best interests while also looking out for the long-term community health of the shard. So, thank you for your support.
*Puts on ugly face*
For those of you verbally attacking staff members, or any members of this shard for that matter, feel free to leave. I do not take kindly to people who come here to cause trouble and defile the warm atmosphere the members of this shard work to maintain.
People looking for trouble and wanting to cause pain, your cowardly drive-by libel is look upon as pathetic...you are not welcome here.

Ok. I was online, as were many others, when this happened. Metallugist was asked IN PUBLIC chat by Colibri to stop talking about smoking pot. This is a family shard, my son plays here. As do alot of other peoples small children. After Coli logged off, the talk continued and a few people even commented to metallugist that he should stop. He was warned and he was asked. End of story.
If you want to talk about such things, do it in the tamer building, mage shop or your house.

Re: Enough is Enough
That was made clear in game that he was warned, I was refering to prior incidents, which may or may not have gone hand in hand with a warning. As far as children go. Yes they shouldn't be expposed to certain things, but they are, and if a conversation is taking place that they are reading, and it causes them to go out, and find a dealer sling weed in the middle of downtown, then it would blow my mind.azure wrote:Ok. It is a good point to mention that there are other shards, if someone does want a more grown up shard, and like i said I dare not dictate what the staff here should or shouldn't do, but it would be pleasant if there was some in game support for more mature audiences. I mean there's TONS of support for making this game family friendly, and it is clearly stated, but geez... I mean can we walk into a bar in this game and make slightly crude comments or are we supposed to pretend that where it says beer, wine etc. that it really says V8 and pokemon cards?
Re: Enough is Enough
With all due respect...
I agree that children are exposed to some things ranging from pretty mild to very severe throughout their lives and without their parents there to guide and coach them. But, is this a reason to allow this shard to be another setting for them to be exposed to this material? Why can't it be one free of this discussion material, if they are constantly bombarded with this type of talk in their normal daily life? It could be one of the only settings where they are not exposed to that kind of talk.
...just a thought...

Re: Enough is Enough
I think they just want it kept out of public chat. I could be wrong, but I dont think they mind what you talk about in Pms, or in your house. Unless it is harassment or something like that. When kids learn about drugs, it should be up to the parents, what they learn and when. Maybe we should put the kids ages with their names, so everyone is aware of who is around them. I was actually on a shard that did that. It would say their name with their age behind it.
If my son didn't play here, i wouldn't care at all what people said in public chat, but I specifically look for a shard that said it was family friendly. Hell the shard i was on before, the paperdolls had no undies and all the girls had boob jobs, LOL no lie.
Anyway, just my parental views.
