Brand new player, says I have a character online?

I just signed up with my account, I create my character, I set the skills, when I try to login after selecting Brit as my city it says

"Another character from this account is currently online in this world, you must either log in as that character or wait for it to time out"

I have tried, waited, tried again....still the same thing. Pretty stumped how this can be going on unless its some weird defect in character creation where it is sensing it created and online before I get done with the character creation process. I do not have any other characters made (It takes me straight to character creation). I am using the provided distro which is pre-patched in 2D.

In any case I believe before I even get on I am going to need help, lol.

Yes indeed, you were correct! A misleading error message was due to my name choice....will note that for future probs.

MOD: Please place this somewhere else as its not a "bug" but just UO Client error message misunderstanding.

It's a known issue. He's got it set to have unique character names, that's what's causing it. The error is technically correct, it's just not clear.

In the documentation it was stated that the error code should give you the message "There is another character in the world with that same name", not mentioning that it's one of your characters. And it's something that's changed in the core, and i don't change that on a regular basis.

Just try with a different name. Once this is fixed you will simply given a name such as "New player" and a bound name change deed in your pack.
