Question about casting, and leveling weapons.

Post by Lateralus »

I saw in the item caps category that FC is maxed at 4. On OSI, the max casting for magery is 2 FC, and the max casting for chiv is 4 FC. So, I'm wondering if that's the same case here. And also how druid, cleric, and necromancy are effected. And I'm assuming that levelable weapons have caps on upgrades. Because my swords of prosperity that I made levelable has no arrow to add onto the faster casting categery. I'm assuming that because swords of prosperity come with FC 1 already, that FC 1 is the cap that a levelable weapon can have. If that's true, and there are more caps, perhaps that should be added to the wiki as well. And it wouldn't hurt to have the amount of Spending Points each upgrade requires. Like, I was hoping that I would be able to make my weapon have a high amount of LRC, but when I found out that LRC takes 5 Spending Points (aka one level) per 1 LRC, I found that it's not worth it. BTW, I don't have 50 Spending Points for the FC 1, but I have enough Spending Points for another upgrade that has no upgrade arrow; that's why I think there's either a cap, or you can't upgrade certain things 'till the weapon reaches a certain level.

all I can say is:

FC cannot exceed 1 cast every 1.5 second (when you click the spell to cast it, from that moment, the quickest you could target a creature and apply the spell would be no less then 1.5 second). so like, if you're casting a magery spell and you have 2 FC then you compare that to having 3 FC and so on, and once you see/measure no time difference in your cast, then that's your answer. (another note: you should always test your FC on spells that are in the early circle or that take the least skill, b/c naturally the harder they become they seem to actually take longer to cast too. not always i guess but as im thinking about it now it seems to add up)

Some spells arent made to cast in 1.5 seconds either, so it totally depends on the spell and not neccesarily the type of magic. Like some druid spells i can cast in the max FC time, and then other spells still take a few seconds to cast b/c its how theyre designed.

as far as the weapon not being able to gain select stats til a certain level is reached, i seriously doubt that. i think its just more about the caps of what you can have, and if your weapon already has said property at such an increment that it isnt available to buy with your points then i guess you already have that property max.

here are some caps I know about from personal experience:

Any kind of Leech- max 60%
(im at work so i cant tell you the other atm but i'll edit this post and give more examples later)

p.s. why would you want to spend your points on lots of LRC? It's so easy to get with armor and esp jewelry. (just curious)

For fear of facing our mistakes.
So we call it judgment,
And watch our friends, our world, ourselves... go comatose, inside."

Because if I had a lot of LRC on my weapon, I could focus my armor mainly on luck or resists. And I could focus my jewelry on SDI, DCI, FC, FCR or whatever other than LRC. It's not so big of a deal anyway for me now, because I've realized it's pretty easy to collect large amounts of reagents.

And thanks for a reply. :)

And with the Caster's Keys, carrying/managing the reagents is easier than ever.
