Disciplinary System- Player do's and dont's

I wanted to take a moment to address a situation promptly so that others do not follow the example led on the forums.

1. Do NOT attempt to speak for a staff member. It is wrong to do so. We can speak for ourselves and give a proper and accurate transcript of a situation that occurred when deemed appropriate to do so. The impression given by a certain player in regards to how a staff member followed through on a situation was swayed to favor the player. This is inappropriate.

2. Colibri and I both view information related to a situation before we act on it. I can assure all of you that the things that we do happen for a reason and with cause. We do not jail people on a hunch, we follow through with disciplinary actions based on factual information. Though we might not wait to go through 3 days of log to see when Boy A and Boy B first started to dislike each other, we do pull logs related to the current situation and handle accordingly.

We are 'human' but we are intelligent and will not jail someone without reason.

3. Furthermore, we do not avoid researching a situation and do not need to be prompted with repeated PM's from a player. In fact, excessive PMing is harassment. When we take on a disciplinary situation we will follow through within an appropriate amount of time. We are mature and responsible individuals and I can speak for myself as well as Colibri when I say that, our moral compass would not allow us to leave situations unresolved. Nor would we jail someone without reason.

4. We also believe in rehabilitation. We believe that everyone has an opportunity to act appropriately and we give ample chance for that. However, we will not jeopardize the well being of the shard by allowing certain behaviors to continue. We care very much about Excelsior and what it should stand for. The actions that you exhibit on the forums, though not in game, are taken into consideration. (note: This is the very LAST time we will allow foul language to go by with a simple warning.) Self control is not optional and the rules are very clear. Please keep that in mind.

We hope that certain actions demonstrated on the forums or in game do not deter newer members. We do not condone or promote bad behavior, rule breaking, foul language or harassment. We also hope that if anyone has a concern about a fellow player that you speak directly to a staff member so that it may be handled respectfully. If someone is acting in such a manner that you feel as if Excelsior is not the place for you, please contact us so that we may investigate the situation and come to a resolution.
