What's this Shard coming to!

Post by Cygnus »

Colibri,
:verymad: I must strongly protest about the current state of success happening in Excelsior. Back in the goold ol' days, I could log in and have almost the whole shard to run around in and nary see a sole around. I could walk out onto my porch in my skivies (undergarments for those who don't know) in the middle of the day scratching myself and not have a care in the world. Now, I can't even walk out to the privy without seeing some new fangled house being built in my front yard. Its so a legendary warrior can't even go out an make a decent livin anymore either cause all of the competition. It's enough to make me want to retire to my roof garden, tend to my bees and watch the sun set 3 times a day, but I can't, cause there are too many buildings around! I hope you and Rayne are happy. See what are your hard work got for you, urban sprawl and more players you can shake a stick at! Don't you wish for the good ol days when there were just 13 or 14 of us on? Oh well, if this is what you want, then you and Rayne keeping running this place inthe excellant manner that you do and I am sure you'll eventually hit 200 players online. Oh boy, I just can't wait. I hope you guys can clone yourselves cause you'll need it.
[Disclaimer: I apologize to anyone who does not recognize my use of old American slang and grammer but I was going for a certain effect ]

Congratualtions on a job well done. You and your staff have made this a most enjoybale ride these past 2 years and I am looking forward to many more years ahead. Keep up the good work and keep on rockin'! :dance

Lol. Oh dear Cygnus, how you have been missed.

And to answer your question, I do in fact miss those days when we had 15 players on. ;) However I am pleased at the progress we have made and that the very large majority of our player base respects the shard, the rules and the general good will that we promote. For this i am quite pleased.

Well I must say I miss the good old days too, when i knew pretty much every person who was playing here. I could spend most of my time on developing and exploring what all the server can do, with such high numbers for the past year it's been mostly administrative work. But it's good to experience both a small and a large shard. And there's also more happiness in seeing so many people enjoy our work here.

Oh and two interesting numbers:
There are roughly 400 players that have been on the shard in the last 24 hours, and roughly 700 players in the last 7 days.

I'm not sure if you were away for some time now, if so then welcome back :) I can't keep track of everyone anymore hehe. If a player was gone for a week, we used to all notice it. But basically these almost 4 years feel like a couple of weeks. If someone tells me for example "hey colibri i couldn't get on for the past 4 months but i'm here again to play" my reply is usually "oh cool, feels like i just saw you here last week".

Well, I haven't played as much lately as real life (work, etc.)as crept into my gaming but I am slowly getting back into it, though I do not think I'll ever be a hard core player again. There will be brief periods where I will be on frequently but more often than not I will only be poppin in for an hour or so to get my diversion fix from real life. My plan is to keep Excelsior as a part of my life. If you don't see me for a bit, don't worry, I will be just like a cold sore, I'll keep coming back. :woot:

Hehe, UO is the one thing I can't quit. And since this is my home now, I'll always come back.
