Guild Wars, ideias vol II

Post by Akira »

i know that when everyone hears the word "wars" they will instantly think about pvp, but thats not necessarely a linear chain of
thought, my initial ideia was to create some kind of events system beetween different guilds, of course consented by both parties, in wich different groups of players could engage in different kinds of competitions, from death matches to capture the flags or timed events, like taking down a number of mobs or something, the possibilities are kind of endless, and a system could be created that would provide a fun way of guilds to interact with each other in friendly ways, i know its kind of contorversial
and i would like to know about the general ideia people have about something like this? and if you think its possible to achieve?

Admittedly, I am new to the shard. And also, admittedly, I am pro-pvp, though this stance in no way means I am anti-Trammel. In fact, some of the best times I have had in UO have been Tram-style roleplay and group hunts. However, the competitor in me likes the idea of some sort of "friendly" warring, whether it be by monster kill count or something more... sinister. I will not profess to know the subtleties of pvp on this shard (where it is allowed, of course), but I would question whether it is possible to place code in the game disallowing any looting in a pk situation, and eliminating any loss of fame or honor by dying. If this is possible, perhaps some folks who find themselves apprehensive about this type of gameplay (due to the normally negative consequences) would be more apt to give it a try, thus opening more avenues for competition between guilds. I am in no way lobbying for a change to the Excelsior style of UO. Please do not interpret my words as such. In my limited experience here, I've been treated with respect, kindness, and generosity in every situation, and would not want to see that change. Mine are but idle thoughts, lain here for others to peruse, criticize, pick-apart, or ignore as they wish. I would only ask that minds remain open, and not dismissive, concerning Akira's suggestions. Obviously, there would be some bugs to iron out, and some hitches along the way, but in the end, some friendly competition could attract more players and serve to strengthen the friendships already in place here on the shard. Again, just my two-shillings on the topic, and thank you for taking the time to read them.

Humbly,

Mastrius
