Excelsior

I'm interested in giving Excelsior a visit, it sounds just like what I'm looking for. Unfortunately, I seem unable to get in. I open the shard through UOGateway, it downloads one sizeable file (I see a long list of files, so this may be where the problem lies, possibly login.cfg not finding its way through, but it's only a guess), and then the client loads up, I see the custom splash screen, enter a logon and password, click connect, and that's where I hang. I never get to the subserver choice screen or character creation, it just hangs at "connecting..."

Are there network issues tonight, could something else be amiss, or am I just being bludgeoned by the vagaries of the 'net? My client is fully updated as of 10/19 11:55PM, UO Gateway is the most recent version (1.9.1266), and I seem to be able to connect to other shards without difficulty. Any ideas?

heya. i think we had someone with a simmilar problem before, but i dont know what could be the cause.

first, lets try this:
open Start -> Run -> in the window write "cmd" .. Click "OK"

In the command prompt (ms-dos window) write:
ping shard.uoexcelsior.com
- or -
ping centes.info

and let me know what responses you get.
It might be that when you were trying to join, there were some temp probs with the network... i cant tell, was asleep at that time
It is also possible that your ISP is blocking this IP range. Anyhow, let me know what responses you get from the pinging, and i'll try to think forward from there on.
