Pet is too advance to mate

I collected my Generation 4 Pets today. I'm surprise to find this sentence on my pets "This pet is too advance to mate"

May i know is there a change in the script or something?

To my understanding, i thought only Generation 10 pets will state somthing like that?

They are probably too high level. The max level you can breed a pet is 42. The trick around it is that you train your pets only to level 40, then hope that the offsprings will be MaxLevel 41 or 42.

Remember, the offsprings will be: Average of Parent's *current* level + (1 to 3)

As long as your pet max level is 42 or less it can breed as has been Coli has said but a pro breeder told me to train one parent to lvl 39 and one to 40 regardless of their max. This way you can get the benefits of lvl 40 and pile points into str etc. but the babies are garunteed to be lvl 42 or less max. It still annoys me greatly to go to all this trouble only to have it come out sterile or both babies the same sex. ho hum keeps it interesting I suppose
