Champ spawns again *sigh*

I have just reread threads on champ spawns and rewards trying to understand how it is working now. Last week i started the tok champ and got it to 4 candles solo with no pets, using a hally with AOE, 2 others joined and did some damage with pets, then they left when champ spawned and hiryus were still massing and making it had to focus on champ. I died, returned and continued after champ which eventually i killed after about 20 mins still solo and no pets.

My reward was 16k and a 110 PS..... At a rough guess I would say I did 60% minimum of spawn kill and definitely 100% of champ kill. The reward seems rather pathetic compared to my effort... wondering if it is worth even doing champs...

Champs are great for newer players to get PS scrolls to either use them or sell them. There are certainly more lucrative things to do (level weps in fel dungeons, kill ballies, crafting and BODs, etc.) however it feels great getting that 120 Archery or Tactics. Trust me, you will get frustrated many more times getting that 110 power scroll you dont need but will continue coming back to do champs .... at least I do. Good luck on the next one and if you need help with a champ dont hesitate to pm me.

Thanks for your reply Alex, I am sure new players enjoy the chance to get 110 and 115 PS's to use but selling them in an oversupplied market is very difficult. I usually save mine for guild members. I am far from being a young player, having joined the shard some 18 months ago.

My exact point is that I think the current system has faults. On my reading of the way it is now supposed to work I should have been in line for more than 1 PS and certainly more than 20k in gp. No one else was at the champ kill except an onlooker who watched me for the 20 mins or so it took for me to kill it. I have received more at spawns with 5 players present.

Under the new rules, the old rules, and the even older rules, sometimes you can do champs all day and get nothing but 110s. That's the way champs go.

Melkor's right. You can solo a champ spawn and get a 110 Fishing PS as a reward. There has never been a guarantee that time and/or effort invested at a champ spawn would result in a better Powerscroll. You're entitled to feel any way you want to about that, of course, but it's never been any different. If it did work that way, I imagine that many players' approaches to doing champ spawns would become different and we'd have a new batch of problems to deal with. Now the gold amount you received doesn't sound right to me but we players don't know the exact formula that determines such things.

Thanks for the clarification Melkor and Unbeliever your comments now add to the general wisdom about Champ spawn rewards and suggest that to get anything at all is a bonus.
From your comments I am assuming the PS dropped is entirely random and unrelated to points accrued at the Champ.

The Wiki is unclear on this point as is all previous Forum posts including those from +C.
Also my experience suggested that at least 1 PS always drops in my bag and on quite a few occasions 2.

Perhaps the Wiki needs an update and could be more precise on this issue.
