could just refund points for every stat on the item (so you could have say 1000 points to use once respeced, 505 base + 495 from leveling)
was in response to this sorry forgot to quote.

If it were just for points spent I'd be 100% for it. I have nightmares about clicking the wrong tab at level 90 and having 1% hit fire area and knowing my luck with making dva vials and breeding it would go off just as I was near a dark rend in labby

sorry for confusion

In theory, the idea is great. The issue is as TheWatcher stated, there is no way right now to determine what was spent with lvl points and what was originally on a dropped item. If there was some way internal to the object coding to make the distinction, then this could work. One of the thing I might do as well is only return 90% of the points spent, this would really make something think hard about respeccing a very high level weapon. Or maybe for 1 million tokens you could convert just one ability back to points.

One of the original points that was brought up is valid though, there needs to be some use for high level player to spend their tokens on. At the Grand Auctions, there are items that are only sold with tokens, but there needs to be some other places to spend tokens, like special deco items.

With that much SP it would cause unbalance...

How about a different approach...

Now not so much 5m tokens, but im pretty sure EVERYONE here has made a mistake on their wep only to 'ruin' their perfect setup, why not use tokens to Remove the stat you just spent...

For instance, i screwed up my lvl 100 bow, that i wish i could go back in time an remove some useless stuff i dont need, an put it to better use now...

Follow what im sayin?

i think it musnt so complicated;
for example "take 1 or 2 level deed" can be created (about 1m token), when double click it can popup same menu like leveling with apply button and reduce points etc.

While this would still allow you to modify the original values of the weapon, I do think that the 1 mil token price per deed would become the balancing factor. I don't know about everyone else but even at the rate I hunt sometimes, 1 mil tokens is nothing to sneeze at especially when involved in other things that take tokens. The only bad thing about this is if such deeds were only available from raffle or auctions, systems like this should be available to everyone who can afford it and not just 1 or 2 players based on gold alone.

Let me add, I do like this idea as well.

I think its a great idea to be able to at least remove one skill from a weapon. I have purchased a weapon before with only 1% in fire area. I thought it wouldn't bother me but it has driven me nuts and I won't even play with the weapon.

While I think its a good idea, there's probably a good reason the "Feature Requests" forum is closed. There are so many issues and systems that need revision and fixing already, why add another?

I can't speak for anyone 'up there' but my guess is that the general consensus is: "unless you plan on coding/debugging it yourself, keep on dreaming until we find the time."

Again, I have nothing against the concept (I'm totally for it) but I personally feel there are more important things on the 'To Do' list at the moment.

Just a question, as i read along to everyones comments... Am i the only one who does not have like 30 million tokens? i only have 2+ mil, and 1m per a level still seems ridiculously high... The level weapon deeds are only 100k (tokens) i think THIS idea would be nice between the 100-200k mark, anything higher would once again be ridiculous...

But as blaze gently put it... Some day in the next few years, this will be implemented, and the discussions will continue...

Well there are some pretty talented scripters around on this shard. Perhaps they would be willing to donate their time/effort to help us all. Because frankly, the GMs have enough of a volunteer work load already. And if someone does not donate a script, it could potentially be years before we see any changes, if at all.

I can see it now, a gump where you can press < or > buttons to raise/lower points spent to your taste.

Plus it would be helpful when putting on new points that you can change them before clicking OK. Because frankly we all make mistakes. It would be nice to correct before applying in the first place. You could be really tired and sleepy and click the wrong thing and say DARN IT and wish you could fix it.

So I propose two changes:

1) Be able to correct mistakes on initial point spending before clicking OK
2) Be able to purchase a "fix it"

The "fix it" would reimburse points spent on that item. So if it cost you 3 points to put on, it will refund 3 points to spend elsewhere. And a "clear all" button to start from scratch.

I know for myself, I haven't touched RunUO 1 in ages and all of the stuff I do now is for 2. Even the weapon leveling code I have is the 2 version. The reason I bring this up is because it seems that even with having multiple ways to solve this, all of them entail with engaging in other systems. Not sure if +C has a dev version he lets other scripters use for assisting with the shard or what. I know many programmers that can be iffy about such things, myself included. I'll would be the first to say that if you know the original scripts, +C has been fairly busy over the years.

Once you get over that issue, then comes down to what +C will allow for a solution to this problem. Off the top of my head I think there have been a few ways listed already and probably a few more not listed.
