Trying to start on this shard

Post by bmc »

Hello, I am trying to start on this shard, and was wondering if I can be patched too far. If that is an issue could someone offer some advice on how to lessen my patch?

Your best bet would be to download the all-in-one client here, then you don't have to worry about the dreaded manual patching.

There is also a trick to painless patching. Just put a blank file named uoml_win32_5-0-6d.rtp in your client's \patch directory and make it read only. This will throw an error at just the right spot while patching, leaving you patched to 5-0-6c ... it's still easier to get the prepatched client if you can, though.

The patch name depends on which client you're using. But yes, that is a good method. Someone told me EA/Origin fixed it to where that wouldn't work though so I have no if it still does or not. Can't hurt to try.

It worked the last time I tried it, but that might be around a year or longer ago. Anyway, I've never seen a prepatched client offered by anyone before I came here, and I think it's awesome. Definitely that's the way to go unless there's some problem downloading it.

Ok, I can get it to play when I use the shortcut the download had made for me, but now it will not work with Razor. Did I do something wrong?

There should be a readme file that was included, look around.

If you're on vista it's slightly stupid so it takes some work to get razor to work, but I don't have experience with getting to work on vista so I can't tell you what to do. There should be a few threads around here on these forums or on the razor forums.

I got it to work, I didn't have the folder in the right place and then I was told about the razor how to file to read while I was in game. Thank you for all the help :)
