Character Creation Disabled?

Is character creation disabled? Trying to create a character, make all my skill/appearance/name choices and the game hangs at the "Creating character..." screen.

When it says that, try ALT+TAB-ing to see if there is a Razor message popping up.

When you make a new character (or log onto a character with a different Razor profile assigned to it) if the "Show in: Taskbar/System Tray" is different than your main's, it will give a message saying it won't be changed until you restart the client. Sometimes this message gets hidden by the client window.

Wow, that seems really odd... I had a problem for a while where it told me a character was already logged into the world and I was like "what?! I loggedout!" but it just meant that the name was already taken! lol It told me I needed to wait for it to "time out" and was intending me to wait till that character name wasn't taken anymore! that's a laugh! lol

Tried a different character name and was able to complete creation.

It should provide an error message when that happens.

And then the crashes and reverts undid my work. Another chance to try the name I wanted.

Generally this is because you are taking to long to make your selection. Try speeding up your character selection and see if that works. Many people have came across this issue and have had it resolved by just speeding up the character creation.

Not using Razor.
No other errors.

Well as far as the name being taken, Ultima Online does not have a multiple name blocker or whatever you call it. In other words, UO doesn't stop someone from making the same name as you. I could make 20 characters named Chroma if i wanted.

This server does stop you from making characters of the same name however.

Commenting for clarification from staff:

Quite the contrary, Chroma, when it comes to Excelsior. If you attempt to use a name that has already been created, you will then recieve a message (from the client) that will keep you from finishing the creation process.
