There seems to be an outcry for some sort of PvP on this server, so I thought I'd bring this up, in detailed manner, once again.
Factions. The only reason you would join any Faction is to PvP.

-There would be no looting (same as PvP room, items go to corpse if killed by a player). Would be awesome to bring silver back as a reward for kills and make that some sort of currency.
-PvP would only be enabled in Fel; most likely it will have to be disabled in Peerless locations, that could lead to awful wars, camping and loss of gear from monsters looting. Adds a twist to Champ spawns, as different Factions can fight to own it, etc.
-People who do not wish to participate in the PvP do not have to. Simply do not join any Faction.

This would open up a whole new environment to people who play in Fel. If we DO get the silver going, we can get the runes that go directly to the base, so CoM and Minax folks don't have to run around like dopes. I don't see many downsides to this. Again, people who don't want to fight dont have to. If anything, they get a free show here/there. You cannot be looted by people; might need to make a penalty for people killing you via training mobs and/or getting you to low HP and letting a monster finish you off. Thoughts? Would this be possible, coding wise?

I love the idea but I think it would also be a good idea if they made the body last longer before it decayed as to it might cause some problems. And what if someone doesnt let some1 else get to there body

Idea of pvp is always great, but thus shard isnt suited for pvp, for example i have no relayers just a simple set of armor, and the other guy has 4 relayers, you dont have to be a genius to figure out who will win with no effort.

Awesome idea, i love it...
The PvP its a important part in all online games... (Becouse is fun)...
But... maybe will be a problem with some players have relayers... they have too much advantage agains who dont have any... but its a great idea... hope GMs add it...
...Not even death will save you from me... Deathbringer in game...

Player can carry more than 60k bandage (bag of holding etc) and instant heal. if you not able to kill with one shot (looks like its impossible) or player have same problems (lag, client problem) lets discuss how long that will take.

Faction is optional. So you dont have to join. For those interested in it, Teamwork would be key. On OSI, there was barely any one-on-one. More a evening gank feast. Made it fun, we roam in packs. And since its a small shard, those that do relayer , will know soon those they can kill easy and will most likely, pass them by (but free silver is tempting). Small shard, what goes around, comes back around. The whole idea of Faction is protect your own.

Answer to this is Teamwork again and thinking outside the box. A few people coordinating Mortal strike, para and armor ignore will stop instant heal. Dont forget Curse heavily affect your resistance and will mess up most 220 dex player. Mana drain and mana vamprice. All ways to make fights very, very short.

These are just a few ways to think outside the box. same as faction. And again its optional. But for Faction guild, they got to be able to Recall to their city. Otherwise, its a lost cause :(.

hmm, plus i wonder how someone would do with a mortal strike and 5 Nobles on them....something for me to test out today :P

It seems that the PVP question keeps comming back up every so often, but The the idea for it in this shard is not real practical, and will only cause headaches and trouble. Many players here have tons of uber gear and millions in coin and for someone like that to go against a lesser equipped and not so rich player..well its like using a sledge hammer against an egg. Players can say "dont go faction if you dont want to fight" but I will say that the lack of PVP is why Im here. Staff has pvp events from time to time that are fun for all but I think if theres open fighting in Fel (and most of us know some players will always attack a flagged enemy on sight) It will be one big headache for the staff with players crying about unfair advantges and will start causing resentment. NO I say we dont need it Nor would it even come close to being worth it for Colibri. This shard is fine as it is and there are more than enough intelligent creatures to go after.

Just to reply to a few things
There would be no corpse camping, as there is no looting. Just as in the PvP room, when you are killed your items go directly to your bag.
Yes, some people would have an advantage with relayers, but as someone said, there are pets, Mortal Strike weapons and the option to roll around in groups. I have beaten people with more relayers than I, as well as gotten my butt kicked by people with no relayers, when I had a few myself. Just because someone has relayers does not mean they know how to PvP well. The idea for enabling Factions is not for the new or undergeared either; it is PvP, you should be coming wearing the best in slots, with skills/macros ready accordingly.
You do not have to join if you do not want to.

On a shard with no skill limits and custom gear, ANY form of PvP is going to be highly unbalanced in different manners. The only proper form of PvP we could do, where nobody can complain about gear/stats and whatnot, is in the few events we have with set gear/teams, etc.

People complain that there is no unity in this game, that you can solo everything and nothing really needs teamwork. Factions could change that. If you have problems on your own, rolling around with your faction (or guild/faction) could level the fields; even a relayered out person couldn't fight 2-3 people that are using MS, Yumis and Crushing Blow weps. A LOT of the UO experience is in the PvP quadrant; think of all the people that we could retain and bring in!

Any other concerns? Excluding relayers/balance issues, of course.

Wait for me!! Haha... once I blessed all my gear I don't care to die lots of time :woot: And if you think that you will loose to the guys that has lots of relayers, then join their side LOL j/k
Now offering free tours to Sgail and Umbris camp, bring your own weapons as safety is not guaranteed.

There are many particularities to this shard that makes it just not appropriate for pvp. Namely: enchanted grove, pets that you can't outrun even monted (nobles), insta bandages, relayers and a few glitches (ie: using armor peirce arrow that deals physical damage while holding a 100% poison weapon and others).

Personally, if I feel like pvping, there are a wide variety of servers, including the official EA ones, were there is a constant effort to keep balance in pvp. When it comes to : "well if we gang on a relayered player we have a chance", you then know that the balance requirements to make a fun player vs player environment are not met.

Also, it is my experience that when players go in the pvp dungeon and get killed, they sometime use global chat to express their frustration. I am sure most of us just play UOEX to chill and have fun chatting, taming, etc. and don't really feel like reading frustration messages.

My two cents.
