Pardon me for saying so but that is a profoundly ignorant perspective on criminal justice. Ever wonder why there are so many different versions of one person killing another, from accident and self-defense all the way up to manslaughter and capital murder? It's all about the REASON. The "mens rea" as they say in the legal profession. Don't take my word for it, go look it up.

As do I, but the one time I mess up I'd prefer not to have my day ruined over it. So will you, when your day comes.
Which is why they have different terms for the killing of another person. So by your logic we need an
afkp (away from keyboard peeing) penalty,
afkd (away from keyboard duping)
afkf (away from keyboard forgot) etc penalties
Depending on how much you spew as an excuse to the GM?
No, it's one penalty. As codex says doesn't matter if you are putting out a fire. -" The excuse doesn't make any difference, whether you fell asleep or had to put out a fire."
Per +C
Take it up with him.
If I screw up and go afk and get caught that's on me.
I can't believe you are actually making excuses for this.
