Armor may not have a big effect? But I will take Col's word for it that armor helps on melee attacks. If you choose not to put any ability points in armor thats your choice. After I get resists, strength, dex, hits and in some cases stamina maxed I consider putting pts in armor as good a place as any to put them. Unless you have a pet that is a spellcaster then you want mana and intell. up also. Sure you can leave them uncommitted and hope to repair a stat loss. However one stat loss is to lose 1/2 of your ability pts on the pet. So saving the points is a real gamble.

I find all this difference of opinion interesting and useful. I started out with pets just trying to balance with hp and resist. I did however always max out their min and max damage but didn't always remember to train their skills up first. That's ok when you don't breed I guess but I'm learning as I do. Noticed that the next gen keeps the max damages for example. Honestly on ar I think I will wait till max resistances before looking at increasing, like the final breeding.

I just took two WW, Gen 4's They are brother and sister. I leveled them both, and then maxed AR on one, and left the extra points unused. We then went in search of balrons.
Killing 5 Balrons each it took me an average of 28 heals (Averaged over all 5 Balrons)to keep the unarmored pet at full health. Switching to the armored pet, it took me 22 Heals. (Again averaged over 5 kills) This is using Touch of Life. I know it is not very scientific. But in my eyes it is conclusive proof that AR does make a difference... not a BIG difference, but a difference none the less...
Enough so that I will add AR points if and when I have those extra points

Touch of Life can range from 80-100 hp per heal. Not to mention 5 is a tiny test sample.

Aye Hara, agreed, which is why i said it wasnt very scientific, not to mention, where was the heal applied, was half of it wasted on a barely hurt pet etc.. but i did try to do it right, i waited till they were about half health to start healing, and tried to maintain it there. No, not a definitive and un arguable test, but it was enough to convince me, which was all i was looking for :) Irregardless, points going to AR are wasted up to and until thats all you have left to pump the points into. It did convince me personally enough, that when i get a spare oint or two i will drop them into AR.
