PatchingWhy patching?
Patching your client is highly recommended to play on Excelsior. Without the proper up-to-date patch, you won't be able to see the custom buildings, items, mounts and colors.
How to patch correctly
The simplest way to get in the game with the proper version of the client, properly patched, is to follow the 3 steps on this page:
Getting started on Ultima Online Excelsior Shard
The current pre-patched bundle version is 3.0.3
If you already have the bundle installed, we recommend you update your hues file
Since the pre-patched bundle version 3.0.3 has been released, there has been a change in the Hues.mul file.
To update your client to see all the latest colors, simply follow the steps below:
1. Download and open the ZIP file containing the new hues - click here.
2. Open the folder where you have installed the pre-patched bundle
(by default it's C:Program FilesUltima Online - Excelsior Shard)
3. Optional: Make a backup of the existing hues.mul file.
4. Extract the hues.mul from the ZIP archive into the folder, overwriting the existing file.
Patching without the use of the pre-patched bundle
UOGateway users
The patchis applied automatically. If you would like to reset the patch (in case an error occured), just close all clients, remove UOExcelsior from your server list, then re-add the server, and wait for the patch to download completely.
If you have made a "Local server" to connect to our shard (to address shard.uoex.net, port 2593), you can also apply the UOG patch package found at http://patch.uoex.net/patch-b-uog.rar
ConnectUO users
The patch is applied automatically. ConnectUO doesn't allow the graphics patch to be applied, so you won't be able to see the custom mounts and the changed spell icons.
Other clients
Download our manual patch, from this url, approx 5.4 MB: http://patch.uoex.net/patch-b-manual.rar . Before continuing, close all UO clients. Go to your Ultima Online directory, and create backup copies of: staidx0.mul, statics0.mul, hues.mul. Copy the contents of the .rar archive to your UO folder, rewriting the current files (with you having backups, it isnt much work to get it back to it's original shape).
Note that this manual patch only gives you statics for trammel/felucca; AKA buildings. If you use UOGateway, or download the full patch, you will be able to use the full features of our shard.
Full patch
By downloading this you can see all of the custom features (gump art, ridables, custom items) even without using UOGateway.
This is very useful if you want to use the latest version of Razor (which is unsupported by UOGateway), with this you can also connect to the shard directly by doubleclicking client.exe in your game directory.
